Overview

The visual design for the National Museum of Australia's Antarctica exhibition pairs atmospheric environmental imagery from the AAD archives with utilitarian, expedition-inspired typography and graphic elements. It connects the exhibition's themes of adventure, triumph and wonder, showcasing the natural beauty of Antarctica alongside the human stories behind it. The identity brings together rare historical artefacts, scientific field instruments and large-scale machinery in one coherent, accessible visual style.

The colour palette draws from both the natural and human worlds, reflecting the exhibition's Antarctic content.

The brand applied to external and internal marketing touchpoints.

The brand extended to merchandise and products sold in the gift shop.

The visual style carried through to the website design.

Highlights

The finished identity rolled out across signage, merchandise, marketing, and the web, and the exhibition is currently one of the museum's most attended shows to date.
